Travelling With A Purpose

The itinerary supplied for this safari describes a 22-day / 21-night Uganda adventure designed around cycling and major wildlife and cultural destinations. The route combines mountain biking with transfers, game drives, boat cruises, trekking, hiking, nature walks and community experiences.

Safari Route

Entebbe → Lake Mburo → Lake Mulehe → Lake Mutanda → Bwindi → Ishasha / Queen Elizabeth → Kibale → Murchison Falls → Chobe → Kidepo Valley → Moroto / Karamoja → Sipi Falls / Mount Elgon → Jinja → Entebbe.

Detailed Day-by-Day Journey

Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Airport welcome, transfer to Entebbe and check-in for rest and preparation for the journey. Overnight at Via Via Entebbe.

Day 2 – Entebbe Bike Tour

Cycle through Entebbe, including the Botanical Garden, bird and primate viewing, Lake Victoria, local markets and interesting sites around town. Overnight at Via Via.

Day 3 – Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park

Transfer through Kampala and the countryside towards Lake Mburo, with a stop at Igongo Cultural Centre and a short hike to the Eclipse Monument. Overnight at Mihingo Lodge.

Day 4 – Lake Mburo Game Drive, Cycling & Boat Cruise

Cycle in the park while looking for zebra, giraffe, buffalo, impala and topi, followed by a choice of boat cruise, safari horse riding or a wilderness nature walk.

Day 5 – Lake Mburo to Lake Mulehe

Travel towards the Kigezi region, enjoying Uganda's scenic countryside, hills and winding roads before settling at Lake Mulehe Safari Lodge.

Day 6 – Lake Mulehe to Lake Mutanda

A 9 km cycling route through the green hills and winding roads of Kigezi to Lake Mutanda, arriving for lunch and relaxation.

Day 7 – Lake Mutanda to Bwindi

Boat cruise on Lake Mutanda to explore its islands and learn about local history and Bakiga culture, followed by transfer towards Bwindi with an option to ride part of the way. Overnight at Agandi Uganda Eco Lodges.

Day 8 – Gorilla Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth

Briefing at the Buhoma Uganda Wildlife Authority offices followed by gorilla trekking in Bwindi. The supplied itinerary highlights forest wildlife and a one-hour gorilla observation period, followed by transfer to the Ishasha side of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Overnight at Enjojo Lodge.

Day 9 – Ishasha & Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early wildlife viewing in Ishasha with opportunities to look for the famous tree-climbing lions and other wildlife, followed by cycling through Ishasha towards Mweya and an evening Kazinga Channel boat cruise. Overnight at King Fisher Lodge.

Day 10 – Queen Elizabeth to Kibale Forest

Cycle approximately 87 km through villages and the crater-lake region with views towards the Rwenzori Mountains, continuing to Kibale Forest National Park.

Day 11 – Kibale Chimpanzee Tracking

Chimpanzee tracking after the UWA briefing, with an optional Bigodi walk for birds, mammals and primates, followed by cycling back approximately 17 km to the lodge.

Day 12 – Kibale to Murchison Falls

Transfer north through tea plantations, sugarcane plantations and farmland towards Murchison Falls National Park. Overnight at Murchison River Lodge.

Day 13 – Murchison Falls Wildlife, Top of the Falls & Boat Cruise

Game drive in the Lake Albertine region followed by a launch cruise to see hippos, birds, crocodiles and the falls.

Day 14 – Murchison River Lodge to Chobe Safari Lodge

Cycle approximately 107 km out of the park while continuing to experience the landscape and wildlife. Overnight at Chobe Safari Lodge.

Day 15 – Murchison Falls to Kidepo Valley National Park

Long transfer towards Karamoja and Kidepo, travelling through expansive landscapes and nomadic communities before arriving for an African sunset. Overnight at Kidepo Savannah Lodge.

Day 16 – Kidepo Game Drive & Nature Walk

Game drive through the Narus and Kidepo valleys with opportunities to see lions, cheetahs, eland, zebra, kob and other wildlife, followed by a short Mount Morungole experience.

Day 17 – Kidepo to Moroto

Transfer through Karamoja's wilderness and highlands, with views across Pian Upe, Matheniko and Bokora landscapes, followed by a Karamajong manyatta community visit.

Day 18 – Moroto to Sipi Falls / Mount Elgon

Continue towards the Sipi region, home to the famous triple waterfalls. After arrival and lunch, hike the Sipi Falls and relax at the accommodation.

Day 19 – Sipi Falls to Jinja

Cycle to the starting point of a coffee experience covering coffee gardens, processing, roasting, preparation and tasting, followed by transfer to Jinja. Overnight at Nile Porch.

Day 20 – Jinja Bike Adventure & Source of the Nile

Cycle through Jinja villages to the Source of the Nile, take a boat cruise towards the point described in the itinerary as the origin of the Nile, and choose an additional activity such as tubing, bungee jumping, horse riding or kayaking.

Day 21 – Jinja to Entebbe

Transfer towards Entebbe through Mabira Forest and Kampala, with lunch in Kampala before continuing to Entebbe. Overnight at Via Via.

Day 22 – Entebbe & Departure

Relax and prepare for your flight home, followed by airport drop-off, farewell and safe travels.
